Chas is Canadian and originally intended
to be a lawyer in Quebec (and still speaks
a little French), but after working for
solicitors in the East End of London determined
on the English Bar. Chas has been prosecuting
and defending in the criminal courts since
he was called by Middle Temple.
He became a tenant at 5 King’s Bench
Walk and when they opened an annexe in Portsmouth
1986, he joined the Western Circuit. It
wasn’t long before he decided to practice
full time here in Hampshire joining 18 Carlton
Crescent in 1990. He lives with his family
in the New Forest which he loves.
Chas has recently been involved in two
lengthy V.H.C.C.s (very high cost case).
He has been briefed for the defence in murder
cases, serious drug matters, kidnap, blackmail,
gang related offences including arsons,
death by dangerous driving, and serious
child abuse and sexual matters. He is confident
in the Court of Appeal when necessary as
well as being sympathetic and competent
if mental health is an issue in criminal
matters.
